If it’s not pink, it’s not me
Hi, My name is Mia and COVID 19 gave me too much time on my hands.
Let’s see… 2020 was a baaaad year to say the least.
I don’t think I even have to explain it, but just in case this website makes it through the next 100 years, here’s what happened—an infectious disease started in China then spread across the globe, countries went on lock-down, the stock market crashed, natural calamities happened here and there, people lost their jobs, some literally begged to breathe, and the world was basically a game of the floor is lava and everyone alive was playing (and failing) to keep their heads above water. Suffice to say, mankind was looking for ways to survive financially, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally.
Born out of boredom were several hobbies.
Dalgona coffee came first. Don’t research it. It’s an abomination to coffee everywhere and a barista dies every time someone makes it. Then, people started making bread All kinds of it. I still don’t know why universally, we all chose to bake. Out of the many things people can make, we decided that bread was it. The ingredients for ‘em cost more than five loaves, but whatever, you do what you gotta do to survive. I was also a happy recipient of freshly baked goodies so your girl is thankful.
A couple of months later, people started buying and killing plants (hello it’s me). At one point, a PHP 300 plant was going for PHP 1,000 just because people were buying so many of it. That was when I stopped purchasing. Luckily, the ones that I already have grew and grew and grew and now I have a garden inside my studio apartment. Don’t tell my landlord.
And then there were many others. The young ones (and some old chaps) started dancing online on tiktok, some started playing Animal Crossing so they can travel through their characters, others decided to take up calligraphy, kombucha making, and other things that can lead to a side hustle, and a few took to online shopping (hello again, it’s me) which is a very, very expensive hobby to have.
So as to not damage my bank account any further than I already have, here I am trying to do stuff. If this gets published, then what up world? I am back online.
Forgetting 2020 is impossible, but we have to try.
So here’s what I’ve done so far…
got a few tattoos
Could have gotten something more sophisticated or something that’s like deep deep, but no. I chose to go Kitty and Hulk and I’m not mad at it. Not at all. I have another one on the left wrist, but that’s reserved for another time.
took my braces off
About damn time, I tell you. I can smile normally, my upper lip does not feel as thick as it did then, and your girl can finally floss properly. Hallelujah! Did I mention I had it on for like 8 years? Double hallelujah!
grew more plants
Because apparently, the ones I already have… still not enough! I started with one pot. JUST ONE! And I didn’t even buy that, it was a gift from Darlene. But see, they’re so pretty and they make me so happyyyy.
What this site is is an attempt to document 2021
Because no matter what happens this year, it can’t be worse than 2020.
Right? RIGHT?!?
[UPDATE: Hi, it’s Mia from December 2021. I just want to say, it can be worse.]
